Stupid Cupid

Monday is Valentines Day (dry heave)....   I mean, don't get me wrong.... I'm the queen of Hallmark holidays...especially ones that give men in particular a reason to be thoughtful.  I like the little special things and I love that it gives people an opportunity to make loved ones feel special.  Honestly though, despite my appreciation of what Valentines Day is supposed to be, it's never been anything but disappointment for me.   Check out this luck...I mean they could make a chick flick out of this.... You know, the girl with the bad luck and then eventually the "knight in shining armor" comes along and changes all of that and they live happily ever after.  Of course that last part hasn't happened to me, but I'm hopeful....  :-)  Ok, here it is:

• Sophomore year of high school....Dad finishes moving out and the house is just mom and me.  Pretty tough time for everyone involved.  Mom & I had a date at "U R Cooks" and tried to act like we were ok.  Stupid Valentines Day.
• Junior year of high school.....Bodie and I break up on Valentines Day.  WHO DOES THAT?  I mean, wait a day or two....seriously.
• College.... Day after Valentines Day my sweet Nanny passed away.  I loved her dearly and although I felt a relief that she was no longer hurting or enduring tummy problems, it certainly took some joy out of Valentines Day.
• College....  Lucas and I never acknowledged for most of the time we were together that we were "officially dating" so we never actually had dates, or did anything for Valentines Day.  Ahh, friends with benefits.....what a STUPID arrangement.
• Last year.... CW and I broke up but got back together after Valentines Day with the help of a fun night seeing Lionel Richie.  I mean, who doesn't fall in love with Lionel....come on now.
• This year.... well, Valentines Day still sucks.

Let me vent for just a second.  I mean, really.....  all the stores are running specials, emailing promos & coupons, websites are posting ideas for romantic dates/gifts, and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD...  grocery stores move their floral department OUT INTO THE PARKING LOT to make this easy for dudes.  Seriously, you have to be just plain retarded to mess this up.   Men--truly, there are no excuses for failing on Feb 14th...ever.  The retail world cant make this any easier for you!

Ok, that's all.  I hope that each of you have a super Valentines Day.  A few of you will be getting cards from me, but I didn't drop them in the mail until today at 5:20pm thinking the mail picked up at 6pm only to find out that it actually got picked up at 5pm.  Let me just apologize now.....it was "one of those days".
